ABOUT US
MultiWay is a Portuguese organization with many years of experience in the area of intercultural exchanges. MultiWay helps people of all ages and backgrounds to select the course or program more adequate to their needs and expectations.
At the same time MultiWay also accepts foreign students in Portugal. The hosting programs offered are:
ACADEMIC YEAR
For High School students aged from 15 to 18 who are interested in learning about the Portuguese culture and language. Students live with a Portuguese host family and attend a local High School.
SUMMER PROGRAM
For young people interested in spending their summer in Portugal and to live with a Portuguese family.
GROUP PROGRAMS
For small groups of people with an identical purpose. Lodging may be in host families, youth hostels or hotels. These programs normally last between one and two weeks and will be taylor made according to the group requirements. Multiway will accept groups on a case by case basis.
ACADEMIC YEAR
LENGTH – Around 10 months. Students should arrive around the first half of September and leave around the second half of June. There is the possibility of students coming for a shorter period.
PLACEMENT – Students are placed in average families anywhere in continental Portugal. It may be possible to place a student in the Autonomous Regions (Madeira and Azores islands). Students are hosted and treated as another member of the family.
Portuguese families tend to take very good care of the students they host and very often try to take them around and show them other parts of the country, but his depends on the family.
SCHOOL – Students will attend a local secondary school. The year they attend will be decided by the school board. Secondary schools consist of years 10, 11 and 12.
ORIENTATION – If the number of students justifies there will be a 5 day long Orientation upon arrival. For totals of fewer than 6 students Orientation will be run locally by their Area Coordinators.
LANGUAGE TRAINING – Most schools have a system of extra tuition in Portuguese as a foreign language for foreign students. This tuition is free.
COUNSELING – Students will have an Area coordinator in most cases. When not available a local teacher will help them with any issue that may come up. Portugal being a small country and the Hosting Program also being small, the office is normally available to help students directly, if they need.
ACTIVITIES – During their stay the students will be invited to attend two weekends with Portuguese students. They may also be invited for other informal events such as dinners or evenings out.
COST – Please contact our Representative in your country for more information regarding the cost of the program.
THE PRICE INCLUDES – Host family placement, room and board in host family, full guardianship by MultiWay throughout the stay, Orientation, school placement and attendance, school books and transportation to school and domestic arrival and departure travel. Students who are placed in the Autonomous Regions will have to pay for their transportation to or from these.
THE PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE – Placement in private schools, special school fees, meals in school, special visits or tours not organized by MultiWay and visa related expenses.
INSURANCE – All students are expected to bring their own insurance, similar to the one existing for the outgoing programs.
APPLICATIONS – MultiWay accepts applications until April 15. Early applications are appreciated. Application forms used for the USA High School Program are accepted.
SUMMER
Students may come to Portugal for 3 or 6 weeks in the Summer. The program runs from mid June until the end of August.
Students are placed with a family and are involved in the family activities during the period of their stay.
GROUP PROGRAMS
These programs will be prepared according to the requirements of the group involved. They may include homestays only if the group is small and for a brief period. Larger groups will be lodged in residences, hostels or hotels.
The requirement for a group program, especially if it is to take place during the summer, should be made several months in advance.

A MultiWay representa, em regime de exclusividade para o nosso país, grande número de organizações, universidades, colégios e escolas de línguas dos mais variados países.
Os participantes nos cursos da MultiWay, além de aperfeiçoarem o seu conhecimento de idiomas alargam os seus horizontes culturais e desenvolvem a sua capacidade de estar num mundo cada vez mais multicultural.
IALTA
A MultiWay é o único membro da IALTA – International Association of Language Travel Agents em Portugal. O Código de Prática da IALTA obriga todos os seus membros a prestar um serviço de elevada qualidade aos seus clientes.
PARTICIPANTES
Os cursos e programas promovidos pela MultiWay abrangem participantes de qualquer idade, a partir dos 8 anos. Cada curso indica a faixa etária a que se destina, bem como o nível mínimo aceitável de conhecimento do idioma a ser usado.
LÍNGUAS E PAÍSES
Os Cursos de Línguas da MultiWay dizem respeito aos seguintes idiomas: Inglês, Francês, Alemão, Italiano, Espanhol, Mandarim e Russo. Estes cursos têm lugar, consoante o idioma, nos seguintes países: Reino Unido, Irlanda, França, Alemanha, Áustria, Suíça, Itália, Espanha, Malta, Rússia, E. U. América, Canadá, México, Equador, Austrália, Nova Zelândia, China e África do Sul.
